Amy Robinson is a collector of moments. She paints and draws by observing the beauty of ordinary moments. She savors fleeting moments. Her work is often subtle with a touch of whimsy. Amy loves watching the world through kids’ eyes and drawing faces. A face holds a lifetime of stories past and stories to come. At times, Amy adds humor to her work because what’s better than making someone laugh?

Materials Amy loves:

Graphite: can be soft, sharp, smeared, textured, just like people. Just like life.

Paint: she uses watercolor and gouache to bring fluidity and surprises.

Colored pencil: to show boundaries, add detail and deepen the work.

Creamy colored paper: she just loves paper!

Amy has a background in fine arts and bookmaking, which influence her illustration work. She loves color and pattern. Amy will use a palette that surprises in an elegant, unexpected way. She gets lost in the details of a pattern and loves to examine how a pattern can push forward or backward, depending on how it’s used.

Amy lives beneath the blue-grey skies and moss-covered trees of the great Pacific NW with her husband and two kids. She is excellent at spotting 4 leaf clovers and has ranked most of the bakery’s brownies in the area.
